We are currently seeking to recruit on a full time basis, a fully qualified accountant to form part of the Senior Management team and to manage the firm’s Tax Department. The post calls for a highly organized and motivated individual who is willing to make the next move in his or her professional career.  The ideal candidate must have at least four years of experience with considerable experience in tax compliance and advisory work.  The selected candidate will together with the other managers in the firm, be responsible to manage a portfolio of clients as well as the members of staff forming part of the tax team. A good command of both written and spoken English is a must. Speaking and understanding the Italian language will be considered to be an asset. 

The Firm

The firm is a medium sized company made up of thirty members of staff, mostly made up of professional people such as accountants, auditors, tax practitioners and vat specialists amongst others.  The firm boasts to have a strong international tax practice with practitioners having several years of experience in this field.  

The company’s services include accountancy and book-keeping services, vat and tax compliance services as well as company formation services and other CSP services amongst others.  The company is a Corporate Service Provider authorized by the MFSA to provide corporate services.  

The firm’s Tax Department is mainly responsible to provide income tax compliance services to the firm’s corporate and private clients including preparation of income tax returns, other tax compliance services as well as the provision of tax reports and advice related to both local and international tax matters.


  • A graduate from the University of Malta (Honours or Masters in Accountancy) or a holder of an ACCA qualification
  • Holder of a warrant to practice Accountancy in Malta
  • A recognized qualification in Maltese or international tax from an established professional institution.


  • Managing a small team of tax professionals  and dealing with clients and tax authorities on a daily basis
  • Provide quality tax advice including the drafting and / or review of tax reports prepared by other members of staff in relation to both domestic and international tax matters.
  • Attending clients’ meetings
  • Ensuring clients are continuously in compliance with income tax legislation
  • Interacting with the firm’s directors, staff and clients
  • Assisting with potentially business development initiatives
  • Supervising staff on a daily basis and reviewing their work
  • Planning work to ensure deadlines are met
  • Liaising with other departments within the firm including the AML team


  • A thorough knowledge of Maltese income tax related matters including but not limited to capital gains, refunds of tax to shareholders of Maltese companies, Notional Interest Deduction Rules, Consolidated Income Tax Rules
  • A solid understanding of EU current and proposed Directives including the Interest and Royalties Directive, the Parent Subsidiary Directive, The Shell Directive and ATAD amongst others as well as other OECD initiatives
  • Ability to keep himself / herself updated with income tax developments both on a local as well as on an international level (EU / OECD) and to contribute to the firm’s knowledge base
  • Ability to take initiatives, work with minimal supervision, give attention to detail and work well both independently as well as part of a team
  • Be able to work in an organised manner with strong customer focus, keen attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks and time effectively
  • Have strong communication skills both written and verbal including an excellent command of the English language and strong report writing skills
  • The ability to motivate and train staff 
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle confidential information
