A teleworking scheme for individuals residing in Gozo and who work for the private sector from home has been launched on the 25th of May 2020. The purpose of the new financial aid measure is to encourage Malta based businesses to offer teleworking facilities for Gozo resident employees, thus reducing their commuting time to Malta.

Employers offering such teleworking facilities may be eligible to receive:

·   A partial refund of 75% of the purchase cost of teleworking equipment up to a maximum of €850 per employee;

·   A partial refund of the salary cost, up to €10,000, based on the number of hours that the employee teleworks, spread over 3 years i.e. a maximum of €3,000 in each of the first two years and a maximum of €4,000 in the third year. In order to be eligible for the scheme, the minimum amount of telework hours granted by the employer to the employee must be an average of 2 days per week and a maximum of 4 days per week.

The aid is limited to a maximum of 10 employees per employer in the year 2020.

Application forms have been published and must be submitted by not later than the 25th of September 2020.

Guidelines have been issued setting out the terms and conditions.  These can be found on the website of the Ministry for Gozo.
