By means of Legal Notice 250 of 2018, the Minister for the Digital Economy has established the 15th of July, 2018 as the date on which the provisions of the Malta Digital Innovation Authority Act shall be deemed to have come into force. The Malta Digital Innovation Authority is therefore now formally set up.
This follows the enactment by the Maltese Parliament of the legislation regulating blockchain on the 4th of July 2018 and various consultation documents issued by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA).
It is expected that the other two laws, namely The Innovative Technology Arrangements and Services Act and The Virtual Financial Assets Act will come into effect during the month of October 2018.
