Accounts Assistant Manager

We are currently seeking to recruit a fully qualified accountant to form part of the Senior Management team and to co-manage the firm’s Accounts Department. The post calls for a highly organised and motivated individual who is willing to make the next move in his or her professional career. The ideal candidate must have at least four years of experience working in a firm similar to ours. The selected candidate will together with the other managers in the firm, be responsible to manage a portfolio of clients as well as the members of staff forming part of the accounting team. A good command of both written and spoken English is a must. Speaking and understanding the Italian language will be considered to be an asset.

Qualifications

  • A graduate from the University of Malta (Honours or Masters in Accountancy) or a holder of an ACCA degree
  • Holder of a warrant to practice Accountancy in Malta
  • A recognized qualification in Maltese Value Added Tax from one of the establishedprofessional institutions in Malta

Duties

  • Co-managing a team of 4 to 5 people
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting policies
  • Interacting with the firm’s directors, staff and clients
  • Supervising staff on a daily basis
  • Providing vat advice to clients when this is required
  • Liaising with auditors
  • Reviewing work carried out by members of staff
  • Planning work to ensure deadlines are met
  • Liaising with other departments within the firm

The Firm

The firm is a medium-sized company made up of thirty-one members of staff, mostly made up of professional people such as accountants, auditors, tax practitioners, vat specialists and lawyers amongst others.  The firm boasts to have a strong international tax practice with practitioners having several years of experience in this field.  

The company’s services include accountancy and book-keeping services, vat and tax compliance services as well as company formation services and other CSP services amongst others.  The company is a Corporate Service Provider authorized by the MFSA to provide corporate services.  

The Accounts Department is mainly responsible to provide accountancy and vat compliance services to the firm’s corporate clients including the preparation of periodic management accounts as well as the preparation and submission of quarterly vat returns and other statutory forms.

The company has an office in Victoria Gozo and therefore any employees resident in Gozo may opt to work from the said office.  The company also offers the possibility to employees to work remotely from home on planned and agreed dates.
