The Ministry for Gozo has on the 26th January 2021 launched the Gozo Back Office Employment Scheme 2021. This scheme will provide assistance to employers, in the form of partial reimbursement of salaries for full-time workers under an indefinite contract.

The scheme applies in respect of:

  • New employees engaged as from 1st March 2020, to carry out back office operations in Gozo; or
  • Individuals already employed with the undertaking but as from 1st March 2020 start carrying out back office operations in Gozo

The aim of the scheme is to stimulate investment in Gozo by the private sector and hence create more job opportunities in Gozo. To be eligible, the employer must have a registered office in Gozo from where the back office operations are carried out, whereas it can be headquartered anywhere.

The aid will be given over a period of 3 years and will depend on the annual basic salary of the respective employee/s. The amount of assistance can go as high up as to Eur24,000 for each applicable employee.
