By means of Legal Notice 56 of 2024, the Government has made a number of amendments to the above-mentioned rules.

A summary of the main changes can be found below.

  1. Residency Malta Agency can withdraw or withhold residency cards if applicant’s dependents are not in possession of a health insurance cover
  2. The Agency has the discretion to extend any time limit, upon good cause being shown, for applications concluded after the cut-off date.
  3. Certificates issued by the Agency in respect of applications which were concluded after cut-off date, shall be valid for all purposes of the Law.”.
